Vicki Hunt has been involved in the Birmingham and Atlanta photography communities for the past 20 years. Her involvement in Atlanta Celebrates Photography and Atlanta Photography Group has provided a stage to showcase her work. Vicki was educated at the University of Alabama with a degree in business, and later studied at University of Alabama, Birmingham in the black and white photography program. She has studied mixed media under noted artists Frank Shelton and Jason McGrady, and has taught alternative photographic process and Photoshop techniques. Random House publishers used one of Vicki's images for the cover of the new release/re-print of William Faulkner's Big Woods. Her work has been featured in Color Magazine, The Birmingham News, Birmingham Magazine, BMetro Magazine, Shutterbug Magazine, Christmas With Southern Living, A Studio Guide to Creating Encaustic Art, by artists Jason McGrady and Donna Thomas, Treasures of Georgia book and Kitchen Drawer magazine. One of her small encaustic pieces is displayed in a designer room in House Beautiful, October 2010, as well. Her finalist image will appear in Photographer's Forum Best of Photography book published the end of 2011. Vicki's photographs have been shown extensively, and chosen for inclusion in Atlanta Celebrates Photography Portfolio Review 2010 (Home Front Encounters), and in shows curated by Benjamin Krause, Fay Gold, Sylvia Plachey, Birney Imes, Elisabeth Biondi, and Peter Essick for juried exhibits. Lisa Hostetler, curator of photography at the Museum of Milwaukee chose Vicki's Rural Faces body of work for inclusion in Southern Photographers at Atlanta Photography Group in 2009. Her Southern Journal work has been chosen for APG Portfolio in 2011. Mrs. Hunt's work is included in the permanent art collection at the Shepherd Center, Atlanta Ga. Vicki's work is also included in the private collections of numerous individuals, financial executives, business/corporate offices, Dobbins Air Force Base, several metro Atlanta Government buildings, and the "Hall of Cities" at Atlanta Airport Marriott.
Inspired by noted photographers, such as Peter Sekaer, Eudora Welty, Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, Bob Adelman, Kathryn Tucker Windham and Jack Spencer, Vicki hopes to continue documenting the people and places of her native state, Alabama.
Mrs. Hunt's work is represented by Frameworks Gallery, Marietta, GA, Watson Gallery of Atlanta, GA, and Soho Myriad of Atlanta, GA. M.
