Vicki Hunt has been involved in the Birmingham and Atlanta photography communities for the past 25 years. Vicki was educated at the University of Alabama with a degree in business, and later studied at University of Alabama, Birmingham in the black and white photography program. She has studied alternative photography under noted artists UAB instructors(hand coloring) Frank Shelton (Mixed Media), Jason McGrady (Encaustic), Amy Pirkle (bookmaking) , Wendi Schneider (gilding) and Christy Tomlinson, and has taught alternative photographic process and Photoshop techniques.

Vicki’s work is on the cover of William Faulkner’s redesigned book Big Woods (Random House). Alabama Cotton was displayed in curator John Bennette's selections for Fin Fur Feather Foliage show at 2013 Slow Exposures Whiskey Barn. Vicki's photo essay and Potter's Field images are featured in the November/December, street photography is featured in the May/June and Italian images in July/August, 2013 issues of SouthxSoutheast magazine , editor Nancy McCrary. Her work has been in Country Roads Magazine, John A. Bennette's 'hanging with mr. bennette', John Wall's Southern blog, Color Magazine, Birmingham Magazine, BMetro Magazine, Shutterbug Magazine, Christmas With Southern Living, A Studio Guide to Creating Encaustic Art, by artists Jason McGrady and Donna Thomas, Treasures of Georgia book and Kitchen Drawer Magazine. One of her small encaustic pieces is displayed in a designer room in House Beautiful, October 2010, as well. Her finalist image was amongst Photographer's Forum Best of Photography published the end of 2011. Her work has been collected by private individuals and is included in designers selections for numerous hotels across America, business offices, federal government buildings and medical centers.
2020 has been a year of Third Place, photography at Arts Revive, Annual Roots and Wings Exhibit, Stonehenge and SACs annual juried photography exhibit, an invitational Exhibit at Montgomery Armory (Montgomery Art Guild) and Stonehenge invitational exhibit (50th anniversary). Vicki's work (Dirt Road Adventures, Dust to Dust) has been selected to show at Selma Photographic Nights honoring Alabama's Jerry Siegel, postponed due to Covid until October, 2020. Slow Exposures has postponed the annual Rural South juried exhibit until 2021, and Vicki will be included with the photograph, Braids. Cyanotype Day is September 26, and the alternative photography.com virtual exhibit will include her Spiral (Interconnection). @icp (International Center of Photography, New York) has selected Vicki's "Black Lives Matter" (Birmingham, AL) image to be included in 1000 photographs that include the year 2020 events. Don't Take Pictures selected Vicki's 'Express Yourself' for inclusion in the virtual gallery exhibit December, 2020 until February 2021, A Show of Hands. Bringing up the end of the year, the Small Works Christmas show at Stonehenge Gallery, Montgomery, AL is one of the highlights of the year. White Flowers Gallery, Bham AL has a variety of Vicki's work.
2019 was a year of several recognitions, including Arts Revive, Best of Show and First Place photography, jurying the Nine's first call for entries, Stonehenge Gallery, recognition by Rfotofolio and Kat Kiernan for a handmade book of white details in Rfotofolio's annual call for entries, co- administrator for Instagram's Conversations in Southern Photos, Your Daily Photograph offering of "Winter Bath", The Curated Fridge, Summer Show (juried), several images sold to private collections, and judging the annual art show for Independent schools. Vicki's work was included in Stonehenge annual December Small Works Exhibit, and White Flowers Gallery Christmas offerings.
2018 brought Arts Revive in Selma (juried), several hotels placements by Soho Myriad, including the new Alabama State Park Hotel installation, Inspero (featured artist- What Makes You Weep?) Pop Up encaustic exhibit with Slow Exposures, juried by John Bennette, image placement at Henderson Electric Atlanta, Southern Landscapes (juried, Molena, GA) The Nine Exhibit at Stonehenge Gallery, Montgomery, and Small Works, Stonehenge Gallery December. RfotoFolio recognized Vicki's New York Volume I handmade book in their annual call for entry awards.
2017 has included several exhibits in Zebulon, GA and a feature in SXSE Magazine for the call on RED. Thank you Nancy McCrary. Also, Alabama Roots and Wings, showcased in Selma, AL awarded first place to my mixed media piece and Stonehenge Gallery had a beautiful show on Alabama that included my dirt roads. I am thrilled to be juried into Slow Exposures this fall and I am presently working on InSpero Reconciliation images for next spring. Thanks for The Curated Fridge juror for selecting my 'Before I Die' image for the summer show.

2015 includes an installation in the Hyatt House, New Orleans, a Human Dignity exhibit (featured artist) in Birmingham, AL via InSpero, as well as a Stonehenge Gallery, Montgomery, AL, ALABAMA:Picture Perfect group exhibit. Richmond, Virginia was the city for a 2 piece installation, thanks to SOHO Myriad.
2013 and 2014 were busy with an rfotofolio.com interview, as well as Hyatt House installations by SOHO Myriad, (Santa Clara, Charleston, Emeryville, Charlotte, San Juan, Salt Lake City and Houston Galleria), New Orleans Sheraton 4 Points, and Minneapolis Radisson Blu Hotel. Alabama State Senator's office installation was a 2013 highlight.
2012 was a year of installations in Acworth, Georgia and 2011 brought the following honors: Marriott "Hall of Cities", Slow Exposures, First Place, The Portfolio Show at APG (Southern Journal)(juried) , and cover image on the Faulkner book. Vicki's photographs have been shown extensively, and chosen for inclusion in Atlanta Celebrates Photography Portfolio Review 2010 (Home Front Encounters), and in shows curated by Benjamin Krause, Fay Gold, Sylvia Plachey, Birney Imes, Elisabeth Biondi, and Peter Essick for juried exhibits. Lisa Hostetler, curator of photography at the Museum of Milwaukee chose Vicki's Rural Faces body of work for inclusion in Southern Photographers at Atlanta Photography Group in 2009. Mrs. Hunt's work is included in the permanent art collection at the Shepherd Center, Atlanta, GA. Vicki's work is also included in the private collections of numerous individuals, financial executives, business/corporate offices, Dobbins Air Force Base and several metro Atlanta Government buildings.

Inspired by noted photographers, such as Peter Sekaer, Eudora Welty, Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, Bob Adelman, Kathryn Tucker Windham and Jack Spencer, Vicki hopes to continue documenting the people and places of her native state, Alabama.
